Sant'Angelo

Sant'Angelo, the village loved by artists, is a lovely seaside village located on the island of Ischia.

The town is located in the south west of the island, which is why it enjoys fantastic sunshine all year round, but also a pleasant cool breeze in summer.

Small, but full of suggestive corners , this jewel set in a high hillside at the foot of Serrara Fontana, is also one of the most exclusive places on the island.

Discovered by travelers on the grand tour in the 19th century, the fishing village profoundly affected the sensitivity of the artists of the early 20th century who met in its taverns, transforming it into a cultural salon.

Auden , Pasolini , Bargheer , Neruda and many others loved Sant'Angelo. The German expressionist painter Werner Gilles spent his winters from 1937 to 1941 in the village and in the 1950s he stayed there permanently painting various paintings inspired by the nature of Sant'Angelo.

A place of artists and culture, Sant'Angelo, but also of refined worldliness because over time the town, while maintaining its Mediterranean identity, has evolved, acquiring a radical chic patina which today makes it the favorite holiday destination of the international jet set .

The centre, made up of colorful houses, flower-filled balconies and characteristic streets, is a place for refined shopping with various boutiques and antique shops.

In the evening there is no shortage of opportunities for fun: from aperitifs near the beach, to dinners in the tavern, in restaurants and pizzerias, to musical drinks in the square.

There are also many nature itineraries: from trekking in the hills to a walk on the Maronti beach, over 2 km of sand and sea, spas and fumaroles. The spa offer is equally rich with various hydrothermal parks of different sizes where you can spend a day dedicated to the most pleasant health & beauty in the world.
